MINGLANILLA'S bESt...
is in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 77,268 people in 14,739 households. Minglanilla is part of a metropolitan area known as Metro Cebu.
- butso
Back in the days when school classrooms are of hardwood floors, every student got to polish the floor with these coconut husks called lampaso in Cebuano and Tagalog or butso in Waray. Schedules of the sweepers (that's the official name all right) are rotated so a student gets to spend countless sweat and muscle power and lose pounds in the process. Polishing with coconut husk is a vanishing practice. But I bet you they still are common in the public schools outside of the big cities of the country. Anybody interested on why I named this butso should refer to the etymological discussion in photo taken in an open market of Minglanilla town, Cebu.
- Minglanilla Church, Cebu
The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (or the Most Pure Heart of Mary) was built from 1880 to 1886. The church is a Gothic confection- the flame-like arches, painted domes of the bell towers and spires and flying buttresses which blend with the semi-circular arched portals. The geometric forms and the trefoil arch suggest possible Muslim influence. One of the best-known crowd-drawing Christian Lenten rites in Central Visayas is the annual Easter Sunday pageant called Sugat (Cebuano for encounter), which reenacts the meeting between the risen Christ and His grieving mother. It features children as angels with wings sparkling with lights, slowly sliding down invisible wires from a pulley system onto the church entrance and altar. The new paint job was finished before the town fiesta on Augut 21.
- happy fiesta~~!
August 20, is the bisperas of the town fiesta. This was how the townsfolks transformed their 19thc gothic church into their version of an amusement park. A bit over the top I think although the colors somehow complement the arches, the domes, belfries, spires and flying buttresses. This photo of The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (or the Most Pure Heart of Mary), Minglanilla, Cebu, the Philippines was taken in August 14, 2005.

- Tubod Flowing Waters
Welcome to a unique mountain spring resort in Cebu, Tubod Flowing Waters Resort. The place has been blessed with multiple natural springs (known as tubod in the Cebuano dialect) that had never dried down even during El Nino. The people in the area have bathed themselves in the coolness of these springs for generations.
From the city going to South Coastal Road, it will take you 20 minutes to reach the place. Tubod Flowing Waters is famous in Upper Pakigne Minglanilla. Just infront of Los Companeros restaurant, there is a small road going to Upper Pakigne, just go straight. You can asl tricycle drivers in the area as well. The resort is about 1.5 km from the main road. You will pass by Spring Village.
Kosin Wok and Grill- Filipino style BBQ Restaurant
The food menu is typical BBQ and very similar in setup to AA BBQ which is about 5 minutes ride on a jeepney. They seem to be targeting the same audience as well as the fact Lipata which is a stones throw away (makes it awkward to work out if the restaurant is in Minglanilla or Lipata with its location) has a lot of sub divisions so could also be looking to grab some of that revenue stream.
The chicken with prawn crackers is one of the specialities in the restaurant and to be honest it tastes pretty good would recommend it to try.
The design of the restaurant has gone for a more native look and feel to it which works well. They have glazed the front side which makes sense to stop road dust but you find the restaurant remains cool due to natural airflow as well as the fans when needed. The use of bamboo framing as lighting is also a great idea. The floor is finished in a polished concrete giving the look more of a paved area. Plenty of parking and a coffee shop makes it an ideal location for meetings for business during the day. On top of that the pricing is relatively cheap compared to most other restaurants.
